Michael J Willis

Bio

Michael Willis is a researcher in the Advanced Radiation Detection, Imaging, Data Science, and Applications (ARDIDSA) group at ORNL. His research focus areas include radiation detection development and data analysis for non-proliferation and emergency response applications. He also develops multi-modal data collection systems for non-proliferation R&D and data analytics. 

Willis has been at ORNL since 2016 when he joined as a postdoctoral researcher in the Nuclear Materials Detection and Characterization (NMDC) group before converting to research staff with ARDIDSA. He is a member of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) and Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM). 

He holds a doctorate, master's, and bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville.
