Matthew Heath

Matthew R Heath

Matthew Heath is a Fast Neutron Imaging R&D Associate in the Physics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He attended graduate school at Indiana University with a focus on neutrino physics. During graduate school, Matthew joined the COHERENT Collaboration studying coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering at the Spallation Neutron Source at ORNL.

Following graduate school, Matthew joined ORNL as a post doctoral researcher in the Radiation Detection and Imaging Group in 2019. Here, he was able to apply his experience in fundamental physics experiments to neutron imaging systems, characterizing and developing analysis algorithms for a portable neutron imaging system using the associated-particle technique. He is currently a member of the RIAD group continuing to work in radiation detection and imaging.
