Ph.D. Materials Scientist / Engineer – High-Temperature & Harsh Environment Applications | R&D Staff Scientist, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Bio
Extensive expertise in structural and functional materials compatibility under extreme conditions (T > 500 °C), including exposure to liquid metals (Na, Li, PbLi, FLiBe, Bi, Sn), high-temperature gases (H₂, O₂, H₂O mixtures), irradiation, and mechanical stress. Focused on improving safety, extending service life, and enhancing the efficiency of advanced fission and fusion reactors, as well as conventional and low-carbon fuel combustion engines and turbines.
- Extensive knowledge of cast, wrought, and additively manufactured steels, Ni-based, NiFe-based, Fe-based superalloys, Zr-based materials, SiC, and high temperature corrosion-resistant coatings.
- In-depth understanding of the interplay between aggressive environments and mechanical behavior (tensile, creep, corrosion-induced cracking).
- Expertise in thermodynamic and lifetime modeling, incorporating AI/ML tools for predictive analytics of material behavior and degradation in complex systems.
- Advanced characterization experience using SEM, TEM, and APT to analyze microstructural evolution, phase stability, and damage mechanisms at multiple length scales.
- Proven ability to link experimental insights with computational models for accelerated materials development.
