M. Dylan Richardson

Dylan Richardson is a Technical Staff Member in the Advanced Fuel Fabrication Group within the Nuclear Energy and Fuel Cycle Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

His research focuses on advanced manufacturing of ceramics, with a particular interest in binder jet additive manufacturing and subsequent post-processing of silicon carbide (SiC) for nuclear applications. Under the Transformational Challenge Reactor (TCR) program, Dylan led multiple binder jet fabrication campaigns and now collaborates with BWXT to advance this work, supporting both continued development and effective technology transfer from TCR to industry.

Other areas of interest include SiC fiber winding, heat treatment and methodologies for various metals and ceramics, and space nuclear propulsion. Dylan also brings experience in engineering design and computational tools, including SolidWorks, MATLAB, C++, and Python.

Dylan joined ORNL as a post-master's research associate in November 2018 and transitioned to a staff position in February 2020.
