Bio
Loren has been a member of the SNS Detectors group at ORNL since 2004, with a concentration on the gas-based neutron detectors. This includes the construction and testing of neutron detectors, both as prototypes and for installation. He has supported the installation and maintenance of detectors for the USANS, NOMAD, BASIS, CNCS, EQSANS, VULCAN, CORRELLI, HYSPEC, VISION, SEQUOIA and ARCS instruments at SNS, plus the BioSANS and GPSANS instruments at HFIR. This includes setting up the supporting power and communications links, ensuring that the detectors are properly configured and calibrated, and troubleshooting when problems arise.
From 1976 to 2003 he was in the Materials Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory. For much of that time he was handling ion accelerator operations for the HVEM/Tandem facility.
