
Bio
Larisa Welch joined ORNL in 2025 as the Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Isotope Processing and Manufacturing Division (IPMD) of the Isotope Science and Enrichment Directorate.
Larissa comes to ORNL from the Y-12 National Security Complex. During her tenure at Y-12 she served in various management and quality assurance roles with the most recent position being the Analytical Chemistry Organization Compliance and Quality Senior Manager.
Prior to working at Y-12, Larissa worked at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant (K-25) where she supported environmental restoration and clean-up efforts. She held positions performing metals impurity analysis and quality assurance.
Larissa holds Bachelor of Science degrees in chemistry and mathematics from Lincoln Memorial University and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
Professional Experience
K-25: Analytical testing supporting environmental restoration/clean-up/industrial hygiene, proficiency testing coordination, lab credentialling, and quality assurance support.
Y-12: Quality assurance support for laboratory work in the areas of environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, material characterization, production support, accreditation and certification.
Development of a beryllium proficiency testing program
Project Manager for the development of a beryllium oxide NIST standard reference material
