Kemal Ramic

Nuclear Data Analyst- R&D Associate Staff

Dr. Ramic is a Nuclear Data Analyst at Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL), where he works on developing and improving thermal neutron scattering data for nuclear energy applications. Prior to this, he held postdoctoral positions at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the European Spallation Source ERIC, where he worked on projects related to neutron moderator materials and the development of high intensity neutron sources.

Dr. Ramic earned his PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where his doctoral thesis focused on the thermal scattering of neutron moderator materials. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physics and Mathematics from The College of Wooster.

Dr. Ramic's research primarily focuses on neutron scattering in nuclear energy applications, particularly in developing and improving thermal neutron scattering data. He has been involved in several projects related to neutron moderator materials and the development of high intensity neutron sources. To this end, he has utilized inelastic neutron scattering measurements at Spallation Neutron Source at ORNL, as well as intensive atomistic modeling using molecular dynamics, ab-initio molecular dynamics, and density functional theory calculation. He has also worked on the development of open-source tools for creating thermal neutron scattering libraries.
