Bio
Ms. Sims is a Geospatial Research Scientist in the Geospatial Data Modeling group and is an expert in geospatial data science and solutions architecture. Since joining the Lab in October of 2008, her responsibilities have supported GIS spatial research initiatives, with special emphasis in spatio-temporal population and social dynamics modeling and simulation for emergency management and response. Other interests include data acquisition, manipulation, and quality assurances, as well as multi-resolution data analysis.
Ms. Sims is currently the Principal Investigator (PI) for RadScan supporting DOE's relationship with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), as well as the Project Lead for PlanetSense's Platial and Insight research projects supporting the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
Ms. Sims also supported the LandScan Global Population Distribution Dataset in multiple capacities for 15 years and served as the Technical Lead from 2021-2024.

Ms. Sims is a co-recipient of the 2020 UT-Battelle Distinguished Innovation Award
