Bio
Joel Dawson is a researcher in ORNL’s Energy and Control Systems Security group, where he focuses on side-channel analysis techniques and the security challenges of advanced manufacturing and quantum information systems. Before coming to ORNL, Mr. Dawson earned an M.S. in Computer Science at the University of South Alabama, where he researched the use of power and timing side channels to detect rootkit infections. His work at ORNL has been recognized through two patent applications (one awarded, one pending), a tech-transfer license, numerous publications, and a 2022 UT-Battelle Director’s Award.
