Bio
Jody Zahn is the Human Resources Director at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and oversees the talent acquisition, talent services, labor relations, benefits, diversity, immigration, employee and organizational development, and compensation functions at the laboratory.
Jody came to ORNL from Discovery, Inc., where she had been vice president of people and culture since May 2016. Discovery is a leading cable television network whose properties include HGTV, TLC and the Food Network.
Jody has been responsible for leadership and skill development; understanding and advising on the impacts of strategic initiatives; succession planning; securing skilled talent; and defining culture, identity, and structures aligned with business goals. She has also coached senior executives, challenging them on personal development and individual leadership while growing skills and capabilities to lead large, strategic teams.
Before Discovery, Jody held a variety of HR positions in the finance and retail sectors, most recently as head of corporate and retail field human resources at Under Armour global headquarters in Baltimore, Md. In that role, she supported executives and field teams with 170 locations and 6,000 employees in the United States and Canada.
Jody earned her master’s degree in industrial relations from Iowa State University and a bachelor’s in business management from Central College in Pella, Iowa.
