Jesse M Brown

Nuclear Data Scientist

Dr. Jesse Brown is a research staff scientist in the Nuclear Data Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He earned a B.S. in Applied Physics from Appalachian State University and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During his time at ORNL he has incorporated novel resolved resonance region (RRR) evaluation methods for neutron interaction data in the code SAMMY, produced a neutron cross section evaluation for the ENDF/B-VIII.1 evaluation library managed by the National Nuclear Data Center (NNDC), participated in the Cross Section Evaluation Working Group (CSEWG) and the Working Party on Evaluation of Cross sections (WPEC), and has made several new time-of-flight measurements for materials of interest to the Nuclear Criticality Safety Program (NCSP). His current and future efforts will be focused on producing real-world nuclear data and creating models that represent those data to the greatest accuracy possible.
