Honghai Zhang received a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science, in 2010. After a short period working in WuXi apptech Inc., he took a post-doc appointment at College of Staten Island, City University of New York, where his research focused on controlled polymerization for conjugated polymers. In the period of 2014 – 2017, he worked as postdoc at Oak Ridge National Laboratory for polymer synthesis and characterization. In 2017, he joined Nanjing Tech University as professor and lead an independent research team on chemical deuteration. In November 2021, he joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory and served as R&D associate staff member. Honghai’s current research interest include deuterium-labeling of polymers, biomolecules and organic functional molecules; mechanistic study of catalyst for deuteration, isotope effect; controlled polymerization; organic synthesis.
