Elaine earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics and Computer Science (combinatorics and symbolic computation) from Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. Prior to ORNL, she worked as a postdoctoral research scientist in the symbolic computation group at the Radon Institute for Applied and Computational Mathematics (RICAM) for the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Her current research interests are in the development of algorithms and software (e.g., computer algebra) tools to solve combinatorial problems that arise in applications for the Department of Energy and national security, the application of symbolic algorithms in quantum computing, the mathematics of quantum computing, and the development for the quantum software stack towards a sustainable and efficient integration with new technologies and high performance computing platforms. More information can be found in her personal website.
