Bio

Dr. Wang is a Senior RD Staff at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and a joint associate professor of Computer Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). Dr. Wang has strong research interests in large-scale environmental system modeling, machine learning and data science, high-performance computing (HPC), developmental biology, and geographic information system.  Dr. Wang has a PhD in Environmental Engineering (with a computational science focus), an MS in Computer Science and an MSC in Computational Sciences and Engineering, all from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY.  Before his work at ORNL, Dr. Wang was an HPC infrastructure manager at the Southeastern Universities Research Association in Washington, DC and a research assistant professor of Computer Science at UTK.  Dr. Wang is the author (co-author) of over 80 peer-reviewed publications (papers, data and software products) and the PI (or co-PI) of over 30 funded projects. Dr. Wang is an IEEE senior member and a board member of the International Environmental Modelling & Software Society.
