Bio
Antonia Chu is a Water Resources Engineer in the Water Resource Science & Engineering Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
At ORNL, she applies the combined knowledge of her background in environmental sciences and water science and engineering to work on (low-impact) hydropower projects, e.g. conduit hydropower and new stream development. She performs data analysis on a CONUS-wide level for multiple projects, processing data using Python and QGIS. One of her main research interests is reservoir sedimentation and sediment management at dams to prolong their lifespan and ensure safe and reliable operations. She likes to engage with different stakeholders at professional conferences with a focus on academia and industry alike.
Before joining ORNL, Antonia has worked on projects of regional, national and international scale and importance focusing on sustainable and economic reservoir sedimentation management modeling and flood prevention planning and engineering design.
