Magnon Damping and Mode Softening in Quantum Double-exchange Ferromagnets Without Phonons

Scientific Achievement: Calculations predict, contrary to common belief, that magnon mode softening and decoherence of magnetic excitations can arise in purely electronic quantum models without phonons.

Significance and Impact: Results provide an explanation for decoherence found experimentally via neutron scattering in quantum magnets.
