Abstract

A research team based at the University of Texas at Austin used supercomputing resources at the US Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Oak Ridge National Laboratory to create the first fully coupled simulation of the reionization of our universe’s local group. The team’s models helped researchers understand how reionization helped form the universe as we know it today, predict the impact of dwarf galaxies on reionization, and set the stage for simulating larger volumes of the universe in greater detail.
