Abstract

The Virtual Integrated Battery Environment (VIBE) is an open architecture platform for battery simulation that integrates software from industry, academia and national labs. Algorithmic and software design improvements can improve VIBE’s computational efficiency, enabling faster simulation of rapid discharge of cells under various abuse and electrical short scenarios and drive cycles of battery packs. For this milestone, the computational cost of each step in the simulation process was measured for a specified test problem – constant current discharge of a battery module.
