Novel Methods for Analysis of Gamma-Ray Spectra

Problem Statement

Robust statistical analysis methods are needed for rapid and consistent analysis of complex gamma-ray spectra such as those collected of short-lived fission products.

Technical Approach

•Large decay chain population, and simultaneous system solution

•Embed into convex optimization framework

•Use Bayesian inference and Markov Chain Monte Carlo to derive probabilities for identification and quantification results

Benefit

Algorithmic toolset capable of rapidly producing statistically rigorous and descriptive results with minimal analyst intervention. This will improve the quality and confidence in the results.
