The journal, published by Cambridge University Press, includes papers describing original research on all aspects of plant sciences. It is owned by a non-profit trust dedicated to the promotion of plant science.
"There has been a significant increase in the number of scientific papers submitted to the journal by U.S. authors," said Peter Ayres, executive editor. "By establishing a North American office, the journal will be able to provide better service to those authors."
Norby, who conducts climate change related research on plants, has been a member of the publication's editorial board since 1997. He earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Carleton (Minn.) College and a doctorate in forestry and botany from the University of Wisconsin. He and his wife, Ellen Smith, have one son, Karl, and are residents of Oak Ridge.
ORNL is a DOE multiprogram research facility and is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
