RF and Intelligent Systems
The RF & Intelligent Systems Group develops low-power sensing systems, algorithms and modeling approaches for understanding and monitoring the security and health of critical infrastructure. Researchers develop and test sensors and algorithms for making sense of complex wireless communication environments. Their expertise brings artificial intelligence and machine learning to algorithm development for tackling emerging signal processing problems.
Cross-cutting research focuses on three core competencies:
- Radio frequency collection and analysis system prototyping
- Signal processing algorithm development
- Standards-based testing and analysis
The group provides national leadership in research areas including technical and signals security, radiation-resistant communications, nuclear nonproliferation, electromagnetic compatibility for nuclear power plants, digital signal processing algorithm development, software-defined radio, assured positioning, navigation and timing, radar systems analysis, machine learning for signals analysis and communication, and technical testing and analysis.
