Operation of the nation’s critical infrastructure depends on cyber-physical systems that integrate software and physical controls. The Cyber Physical Systems Group develops technologies to enhance and characterize the resiliency of critical cyber-physical systems as part of national security. The group focuses on four core sectors in which cyber-physical systems are integral:
- The electric grid and other energy infrastructure
- Transportation systems, including connected and autonomous vehicles
- Industrial control systems used in manufacturing, and
- The evolving Internet-of-Things.
