The Learning Sciences and International Logistics Group provides program development and learning research in addition to logistics management for nuclear security programs.

Learning Sciences

The Learning Sciences Team provides training program development through the application of learning sciences principles to nuclear security programs. The team designs and develops learning programs for instructional design, curricular development, and learning management for existing and emerging customers, using techniques such as immersive learning, cognitive science, design studies, etc. Partners include NNSA, IAEA, DTRA, DoS, and DHS. Course topics range from technical nuclear security subject matter to train-the-trainer and training system design. Deliverables include:

International Logistics

The International Logistics Team manages and expedites travel-related contracts, estimates, reservations, visas, and work orders for the laboratory’s travelers. Responsibilities include support for:

  • International and domestic travelers
  • Conference planning and facilitation
  • Emergency travel procedures and travel advisories
  • Translation and interpretation services
  • Health insurance for ORNL travelers
  • Required training for ORNL travelers
  • Records management
