Subrato Sarkar

Associate Research Staff

Subrato Sarkar is an associate research staff in the Deposition Science and Technology Group in the Manufacturing Sciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He obtained his MS and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India. After completing his PhD, he completed postdoctoral appointments at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and ORNL. His research lies at the intersection of materials science and mechanical engineering and uses computational models to study the deformation and failure of structural materials with a focus on understanding the relationships between material processing, microstructure and performance. His current research interests include on developing computational models for advanced manufacturing techniques, hydrogen embrittlement, metal forming operations and developing data driven methods for speed and scalability.
