Dr. Xiang Lyu is an R&D Associate Staff Scientist in the Energy Storage and Conversion Manufacturing Group. His research focuses on efficient electrochemical energy conversion and storage, including water splitting, fuel cells, CO2 reduction reaction, metal-air batteries, etc. His broad research experience is reflected in more than 50 peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Lyu received his Ph.D. from Ohio University in 2020, where his graduate research focused on electrocatalyst development for hydrogen production from water and biomass. In the beginning of 2021, he began his postdoctoral research at the University of Cincinnati, focusing on electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction, and then moved to ORNL continuing his postdoctoral research in the Fall of 2021. He was converted to the R&D Associate Staff Scientist in the spring of 2024.
