Tom J Bundy II

Quality Manager, Computing and Computational Science Directorate

Tom Bundy is the Quality Manager and Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) Coordinator supporting the Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate (CCSD) and the Quantum Science Center (QSC) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).  Tom has 35 years of experience in all aspects of quality management - 22 years from work in automotive manufacturing and 13 years in the research environment of ORNL .  He has held leadership roles in purchasing, supplier quality, quality auditing, product quality and quality systems development. Mr. Bundy’s work in developing ISO 9001-based, globally-common quality systems for multiple-site organizations has been benchmarked by leading automotive manufacturers, published in industry magazines and taught in his presentations at quality improvement conferences.  He has conducted numerous audits, assessments and investigations for industry and research.   Tom also was instrumental in the development of ORNL’s current Software Quality Program and is one of the Lab’s software quality Subject Matter Experts. In recent years, Tom’s work has expanded to include roles in ES&H.  Tom has received awards for his outstanding work, including ORNL’s highest honor for individuals in a support role – the Director’s Award for Mission Support.  Mr. Bundy’s degrees are in Agricultural Engineering (BS) and Economics (MS), both from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
