Thomas Huegle

Neutronics Scientist

Thomas Huegle is a member of the Instrument Development & Neutronics Group at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

He received his doctorate degree in chemistry from the Freie Universitaet Berlin (Germany) in 2011 for his work on hydrazine borane as a hydrogen storage material. Following graduation, he joined the Spallation Physics Team at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher. His postdoctoral research focused on the development of new moderator materials and low energy neutron scattering kernels.

He joined ORNL in 2014, focusing primarily on neutron optics and instrument development, as well as the use of large scale data analysis for monitoring moderator performance.
