Tammy Walker has served as the Deputy Manager for NASA’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory Distributed Active Archive Center (ORNL DAAC) since 2012. In addition to assisting the ORNL DAAC Manager in executing the mission of ORNL DAAC, Tammy leads development efforts for the DAAC’s Semi-Automated Ingest System (SAuS) designed to manage the archival, curation and dissemination of dataset publications from NASA funded field campaigns for the Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) managed by the Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) project. Additionally, Tammy leads curation and user services activities, and has provided various technical expertise to the ORNL DAAC since 1996.
Tammy has a passion for assessing and addressing the user needs of complex data management systems that began in 1984 in the USDOE Global Change Research Program’s Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center of ESD where she managed user services and provided expertise in geographic information systems before moving on to provide cost shared geospatial infrastructure and user support to ESD researchers by managing the ESD Geographic Information Systems Facility from 1996 to 2012.
