Dr. Sarkar is a post-doctoral researcher in the Deposition Science and Technology Group in the Manufacturing Sciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He obtained his MS and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India. After completing his PhD, he joined Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Troy, New York as a post-doctoral researcher. His research lies at the intersection of materials science and mechanical engineering and uses computational models to study the deformation and failure of structural materials with a focus on understanding the relationships between material processing, microstructure and performance. His current research interests focus on developing computational models for powder metallurgy hot isostatic pressing.
