Dr. Seohyeon Jo is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Materials Engineering Group within the Neutron Scattering Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering from Gyeongsang National University, South Korea, and earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.
During her doctoral studies, Dr. Jo focused on the relationship between flash sintering* reactions and defect generation. Her research employed a range of advanced characterization techniques, including in-situ impedance spectroscopy, in-situ four-point measurements, Hall effect measurements, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy, and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM).
At ORNL, Dr. Jo's current research focuses on investigating the chemical reactions that occur during sintering processes.
*Flash sintering, one of the field-assisted sintering techniques, was pioneered by Dr. Marco Cologna in Dr. Rishi Raj’s lab at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2010.
