Paul T Simmons

Paul Simmons received his B.S. in Computer Science from UNC-Asheville.  He has 35 years’ experience in computer science.  He has worked in the fields of transportation, medical research, weatherization, financial tracking, and secure information management during his career.  Initially he was involved with telecommunications, and then foreign language teaching software before transitioning to a large consulting company.  During his time there Paul was involved in a variety of projects spanning the fields mentioned previously.  Currently he is working with the weatherization assistant (WAP) team, and the Fuel Economy team.

Some important software applications

The Weatherization Assistant is a web based tool expanding on the success of the desktop application used to manage the Weatherization program in states across the country. 

FuelEconomy.gov provides valuable information to consumers wishing to learn more about vehicles. The site is the host of data from the EPA on all makes and models sold within the US. 

RSSIC the Radiation Safety Information Computational Center (RSICC) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is an information analysis center that collects, archives, evaluates, synthesizes and distributes information, data and codes that are used in various nuclear technology applications. RSICC retains more than 2,000 software and data packages that have been provided by contributors from various domestic and international agencies

Work Space Posting Tool has been developed to standardize postings for laboratories and other non-office work spaces across the ORNL campus. This system is used for all laboratory spaces and other spaces covered by a Research Safety Summary (RSS). It also applies to work spaces at the discretion of the line organization responsible for the work conducted in the area. It is not the intent that this posting be used for office areas.
