Bio
Dr. Kevin Connolly supports the Transportation Security, Engineering, and Analysis Group at ORNL. He supports DOE initiatives related to the transportation of spent nuclear fuel and high level radioactive waste, including development of methods for estimating radiological impacts from spent fuel transportation, analysis of potential transportation routes and infrastructure at commercial nuclear power plant sites, study of policies related to storage and transportation of spent nuclear fuel, and regulatory support for nuclear and radioactive materials transportation outside the US. Prior to joining ORNL in 2014, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at Georgia Tech. His research was focused on the development of computational radiation transport methods for reactor physics. He has taught undergraduate courses in nuclear and radiological engineering and public policy at Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. He is a 2009 fellow of DOE’s Nuclear Energy University Program and graduated with his Ph.D. in nuclear and radiological engineering from Georgia Tech in 2012.
