Joe Eskridge

I’ve been in the emergency service now for eighteen years and I enjoy being an emergency service personnel. We do a lot of different types of training and events here at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. I have the qualifications required to be a leader this organization that I have accumulated over my time with my previous employer Harriman Fire Department, UCOR and here at ORNL. I understand the importance of communication, decision-making and delegation as they go hand in hand in the fire service. I understand the principles of DOE’s Integrated Safety Management (ISM), and DOE’s Worker Safety and Health Program and will demonstrate these principles. I also understand that in a leadership role you must be able to properly delegate assignments, respect the work group, and being committed to the mission of DOE and ORNL all while making this organization the best it can be. Working for Harriman City Fire Department I have earned the trust of all the other fireman, by demonstrating these characteristics and I found that out in 2009 when I received the Fireman of the year award. You receive this award I think by working hard every day and following orders given by you Company officers making good decisions, helping other fire department members achieve their goals and being ready for anything when the tones alert you department on or off duty. American Heart (CPR), Rope rescue, Hazardous operations, PPE use as well as a list of other training. I also conducted the Safety Culture training for UCOR. In this class I talked about the hazards at the Oak Ridge Reservations being ETTP, Y12, and ORNL.

Respectfully Submitted, Joseph K. Eskridge Jr.

While employed with UCOR, I deliver the Safety Culture Training to every new hire that the organization hires.  This training occurs every Monday.  I also deliver Safety Focus training to Sr. Management.  I have also presented Fire Prevention information to Sr. Management supervisors.

In my spare time, I teach CPR to individuals in the community as well as to my EMS/Fire coworker.

I have also prepared in-service training, developed training schedules, and assisted in training budget planning for fire department agencies as well as taught in-service training for multiple fire department agencies.
