Bio
Ian is a Knoxville native. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys.
Professional Experience
Ian started at ORNL in 2020. He is the Instrument Systems Engineer for MARS (CG-1D) at HFIR and TOPAZ (BL-12) and MaNDi (BL-11B) at SNS. Also, he has contributed to the design effort for VENUS (BL-10).
Before coming ORNL he worked for the medical device manufacturer Pronova Solutions as a manufacturing engineer and then as a mechanical design engineer. While there he provided mechanical design support for a superconducting cyclotron, a proton beam monitoring ionization chamber, and a concept for a compact proton therapy system as well as designing tooling and fixturing for the assembly and shipping of the SC360 Proton Therapy device.
Education
Ian graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 2012.
