Heath A Huckabay

Group Lead

Dr. Heath A. Huckabay is a senior R&D staff member and the Signals Collections and Analysis group lead in the Nuclear Nonproliferation Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His research includes signal discovery and method development for nonproliferation objectives utilizing a broad range of instrumental techniques, including remote sensing, machine vision, optical spectroscopy, electrical signal collections, and mass spectrometry. His recent work includes advanced optical signal collections and specialized time- and frequency-domain analysis for nonproliferation objectives. Dr. Huckabay is a subject matter expert in nuclear fuel cycle material and signal collections, neuromorphic optical sensing, and complex signals discrimination. Before joining Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Dr. Huckabay received his BS in forensic chemistry from Sam Houston State University and his PhD in analytical chemistry from the University of Kansas. He served as a legislative fellow and science advisor to Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee from 2020 to 2021.
