Geoffrey G Deichert
System Engineer and Shift Technical Advisor
Bio
Mr. Deichert originally came to ORNL in August of 1999 to join the High Flux Isotope Reactor as a Shift Technical Advisor. In addition, he supported HFIR Operations as a System Engineer. His support ranged from organizing drawing walkdowns and manufacturing of labels to updating the Master Equipment List. Later, he oversaw plant water chemistry issues and engineering modifications. In 2013, Mr. Deichert was assigned to the RRD Experiments Group as the Experiment Coordinator. With the Experiments Group, Mr. Deichert was responsible for experiment and target fabrications, reviewing core loading information, scheduling new experiments for the Gamma Irradiations in Spent Fuel Elements, and coordinating the installation and continued operation of various neutrino experiments, including PROSPECT. In 2017, Mr. Deichert was moved back to his current role as System Engineer to provide overall chemistry support throughout the plant and address emergent chemistry issues.
Mr. Deichert holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University. In 2008, he received a certificate in Engineering Management from the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
