David A Mcclintock

Material Scientist

David McClintock is a materials scientist supporting research and development activities for target systems at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He is primarily responsible for post irradiation examination (PIE) of SNS target modules after operation, but also performs a variety of research activities associated with irradiated materials. His expertise includes characterization of radiation-induced effects in structural materials, PIE techniques for irradiated components, and design of spallation neutron targets and other high-dose accelerator components.

Prior to joining the SNS, Dr. McClintock was with the Materials Science and Technology Division at ORNL where he conducted research with irradiated materials in support of several programs, including the Fusion Materials Program, Generation IV Nuclear Reactor Program, and ITER project.

Dr. McClintock earned a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Texas.
