Avishek Maity is an instrument scientist for the polarized neutron triple-axis spectrometer PTAX (HB-1) at the High Flux Isotope Reactor at ORNL. Before joining ORNL, he served as an instrument scientist at the University of Göttingen and the Technical University of Munich, working on the thermal neutron triple-axis spectrometer PUMA at the FRM II research reactor in Germany. During his tenure there, he helped advance PUMA’s experimental capabilities through the development of its multiplexing setup.
Avishek’s research focuses on investigating quantum phenomena in strongly correlated electron systems. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Montpellier, France, and his Master’s degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
