Bio
Dr. Aubrey K. Fine is a soil biogeochemist whose research focuses on microbial controls on soil carbon cycling and persistence in terrestrial ecosystems. Her work integrates soil biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, and process-based modeling to understand how cross-scale environmental drivers—particularly temperature and moisture—regulate microbial metabolism and carbon turnover in soils. Her current research focuses on developing conceptual and trait-informed modeling frameworks to better represent soil microbial biomass and necromass dynamics in ecosystem models, with relevance across both natural and managed terrestrial ecosystems including bioenergy production systems.
