Nuclear Materials Specialist focuses on the procurement of materials and services for the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR), including but not limited to reactor materials, procurement, sourcing, material take-offs, expediting, receiving/handling, receiving inspection, counterfeit parts identification, non-conformance generation and resolution, and return shipments. Responsible for procuring routine and critical parts and services for the safe and reliable operation of the HFIR. Determine and advise on correct procurement methods for the Nuclear Materials Group in the Research Reactors Division, Neutron Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Maintain a strong commitment to the implementation of values and ethics.
Prior to moving to the High Flux Isotope Reactor was an Express Buyer in the ORNL Contracts Division. Responsibilities included purchasing high-volume, readily available items and services using ORNL procurement methods (SAP and now Ariba). Maintained accurate and complete files according to division procedures. Coordinated award activities with appropriate parties (Receiving, Requisitioners, Accounts Payable, Materials Clerks, Technical Project Officers, Property, etc.). Closed out files assigned in accordance with the ORNL Procurement Operating Procedures (POP) and handbook. Responded to purchase order audits.
