Three from ORNL receive awards from area management group

Three employees of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) have been presented awards from the Oak Ridge Chapter of the National Management Association.

Honored are Dick Reid of the Computational Physics and Engineering Division, Charmaine Hempfling of the Metals and Ceramics Division and Deborah York of the Computing Information and Network Division.

Reid was presented the chapter's Leadership Award. Hempfling was named Secretary of the Year for her commitment, support and skills. York won the Oak Ridge Chapter Service Award for her efforts on behalf of the area chapter.

Reid is group leader in his division. He earned a bachelor's degree in industrial management from Ohio State University and an MBA with a concentration in information systems from Louisiana Tech University. He is a 28-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Reid and his wife, Ann, reside in Farragut. They have two adult children.

Hempfling is a group secretary in the X-ray Research and Applications Group and the Theory Group of her division. She received a bachelor's degree in organizational management from Tusculum College. She has three adult children and resides in Northwest Knoxville.

York is group leader in the Information Integration, Computing, Information and Networking Division of LMER. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science and public administration from Eastern Kentucky University and a master's degree in library and information science from the University of Iowa. She and her husband, James, live in North Knoxville.

ORNL is a DOE multiprogram research facility and is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
