Frederick Strohl Jr., has joined the public affairs organization at the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) as the promotional communications coordinator.
Strohl is responsible for distributing information about honors and awards received by the ORNL staff. In this position, he will also provide support to the Martin Marietta Energy Systems Speakers Bureau.
Strohl previously was the managing editor of The Clinton Courier-News. He received a bachelor's degree in political science from Maryville College in 1976 and has worked as editor and reporter for various newspapers in East Tennessee. He serves on the board of directors for the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce.
He and his wife, Donna, and their two children, Adria, 13, and Whitney, 7, live in Clinton.
ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Martin Marietta Energy Systems, a Lockheed Martin company, which also manages the Oak Ridge K-25 Site and the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.
