Green's work is in support of DOE's Office of Advanced Automotive Technologies in compression-ignition engines, spark-ignition engines, alternative fuels and systems applications. He also works on emissions controls.
Green joined ORNL in 1995. He spent a year as a visiting researcher at Ford's Scientific Research Laboratory in Dearborn, Mich. He earned a 1998 ORNL Technical Achievement Award for developing a process to improve combustion stability in internal combustion engines.
Green earned a bachelor's degree in 1992 in mechanical engineering from the University of Memphis and a master's degree in 1993 in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a candidate to receive a doctorate in mechanical engineering in December 2000 from Georgia Tech.
He and his wife, Tonya, are residents of West Knoxville.
