The award, sponsored by the Dow Chemical Foundation, recognizes valuable contributions and achievements in the field of analytical chemistry.
A group leader in ORNL's Chemical Sciences Division, Ramsey has earned numerous awards and recognitions since joining ORNL in 1979 as a Wigner Fellow. A recipient of the Battelle Distinguished Inventor Award and ORNL's Scientist of the Year Award, Ramsey also has earned two R&D 100 awards and is a fellow of the Optical Society of America.
Ramsey earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Bowling Green State University and a doctorate in analytical chemistry from Indiana University.
He and his wife, Roswitha, have a son - Christopher Blake. The family resides in west Knoxville.
