Dr. Edward A. Lazarus of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has been elected to Fellowship in the American Physical Society (APS).

He joined ORNL's Fusion Energy Division in 1979 and is a senior research staff member. Lazarus received his bachelor's degree and doctorate in physics from the University of Massachusetts.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. He is a member of the Southwestern Yacht Club.

Lazarus currently is on a long-term assignment to General Atomics in San Diego. He has a son, Michael, also in San Diego.

ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
