Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

The Knoxville Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is held annually in downtown Knoxville and is one of a series of 5K run/fitness walks held throughout the United States each year.  The purpose of the event is to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, to celebrate breast cancer survivors, and to honor those who have lost their fight with this disease.

Team UT-Battelle has been awarded the largest corporate team award each year since 2001. Seventy-five percent of the money raised at the Knoxville Race for the Cure stays in the local community to fund educational outreach and to provide screening and treatment programs for underserved women in our community.  The remaining twenty-five percent supports the international Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards, and educational and science programs around the world.
