Young-Hoon Kim

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Young-Hoon Kim is a postdoctoral research associate in the electron Microscopy and Microanalysis (eMMA) Group at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He received his Ph.D. in Energy Science from Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), Republic of Korea, in 2024. His research focuses on the development and application of advanced electron microscopy techniques, particularly STEM-EELS/EDX and 4D-STEM with machine learning, to elucidate the atomic-scale correlation between structure and properties in oxide nanomaterials. Recently, His work has centered on exploring emergent physical phenomena in strongly correlated materials by employing liquid helium cryogenic STEM to understand the structural origins that govern their functionalities, contributing to the design of next-generation quantum and energy systems.
