Miguel Rodriguez Jr

Senior Technical Professional

Miguel has more than 32 years of technical support experience at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  During that time, he has worked in different projects in bioenergy (biomass characterization, metabolomics, aerobic and anaerobic fermentations), applied and environmental microbiology (including ENIGMA), and microalgal biosensors.  He participated in an international collaboration between the former ORNL BioEnergy Science Center and the Biomass Refinery Research Center (Hiroshima) of Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology.  He earned his Bachelor in Science degree in Industrial Microbiology from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez and a Master in Science degree in Life Sciences from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville under the guidance of Dr. Brian H. Davison.  He is a graduate of Battelle’s Laboratory Operations Supervisor Academy (LOSA) and ORNL’s Lab Space Manager Dynamic Learning.  He is currently a member of the Biosystems Imaging and Characterization Group in the Biosciences Division.  Before joining ORNL, Miguel was a Microbiologist in the Fermentation/Microbiology Section of Ricerca Biosciences (now Concord Biosciences) located in Painesville, Ohio.
