Senior Science Writer and Communications Specialist

Stephanie Seay is a Senior Science Writer and Communications Specialist in Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Communications and Community Engagement organization.

She researches, writes and edits press releases, feature stories, researcher profiles, story tips, blog posts, video scripts, newsletters, and more to promote scientific literacy and elevate the groundbreaking research of ORNL's scientists to external and internal audiences. Stephanie also works closely with leadership and staff to develop materials to support the lab's relationships with sponsors, collaborators and other constituents. Her specialty is bridging the gap between cutting-edge scientific discoveries and public understanding.

Since joining ORNL in 2016, she has worked closely with scientists engaged in innovations for biofuels, environmental science, hydropower, grid security and resilience, fossil energy, national security, advanced manufacturing and transportation science.

Prior to her time at ORNL, Stephanie was Senior Editor at S&P Global Platts, a market intelligence company in the energy sector. She was a business reporter and editor for the firm's flagship daily publications and real-time news service focused on the natural gas, oil, and electricity markets. 

Stephanie is a member of the DOE Science Public Outreach Community, the National Association of Science Writers, and the University Research Magazine Association.
