Bio
Selena Gilland is a dedicated Radiochemical Technician with a strong academic background and diverse technical experience. She graduated Cum Laude from Pellissippi State Community College in 2019 with an Associate of Applied Science in Business - Management, showcasing her unique blend of scientific expertise and business acumen.
At Galbraith Laboratories (2021–2024), Selena performed acid and microwave digestions for metals analysis on both FDA-regulated and non-regulated samples. In this role, she executed a variety of analytical methods—including USP, ASTM, JP, and in-house protocols—to ensure precise and reliable results.
In 2024, Selena joined ORNL, where she currently supports programs such as NESHAPS, UCOR, and NPDES by processing water and air monitoring samples. Her work encompasses a range of environmental analyses, including measurements of inorganic carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand (CBOD), total suspended solids (TSS), total dissolved solids (TDS), and E. coli. Additionally, she performs low-level radiochemistry analyses by monitoring Alpha, Strontium, Gross Alpha Beta (GAB), and Tritium. Her technical proficiency extends to using advanced instrumentation like gamma and alpha spectroscopy, gas flow proportional counting, liquid scintillation counting, and noble gas monitoring.
Selena’s blend of academic excellence, hands-on laboratory experience, and proficiency with state-of-the-art instrumentation makes her a valuable member of our team, driving innovation and precision in radiochemical analysis.
